The Beginning

Ochre Cove began in 2020, though its roots stretch back further. Our founders—former professionals from technology, finance, and academia—had each independently discovered what research was beginning to confirm: that sustained engagement with natural environments produces profound cognitive and emotional renewal.

After years of corporate wellness initiatives that felt superficial, they sought something more substantial. Not luxury spas branded as "retreats," but genuine immersion in wilderness. The kind of experience that interrupts habitual thought patterns and creates space for deeper restoration.

What started as informal trips for friends evolved into Ochre Cove: a structured practice of connecting professionals with Canada's protected landscapes under careful guidance.

Our Philosophy

We operate from a simple premise: restoration requires removal. The environments that exhaust modern professionals—constant connectivity, competing demands, artificial lighting, sedentary patterns—cannot also heal them.

True recovery happens when we step outside these systems entirely. When the phone has no signal. When the horizon contains only trees. When the only schedule is sunrise and sunset.

Our programmes create these conditions deliberately. We partner with Parks Canada, provincial conservation authorities, and private land trusts to access protected wilderness far from roads and cell towers. Our guides are trained not in entertainment but in facilitation—creating the conditions for restoration while knowing when to step back.

We do not promise transformation. We create the circumstances under which it becomes possible.

Principles That Guide Us

Intentional Disconnection

Our locations are chosen specifically for their distance from connectivity. This is not a limitation—it is the foundation of the experience.

Ecological Integrity

We work exclusively within protected areas and follow leave-no-trace principles rigorously. Our presence should support conservation, not compromise it.

Small Groups Only

Our experiences are limited to eight participants maximum. Solitude and silence require space, and meaningful experiences require attention.

Our Team

Guides and coordinators who understand the landscape and the needs of those who seek it.

Our Partners

Ochre Cove works closely with conservation organizations across Canada to ensure our programmes support ecological preservation.

We hold permits through Parks Canada for guided experiences in several national parks, and maintain relationships with provincial park authorities in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Alberta.

A portion of every booking supports the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, contributing to ongoing conservation efforts that protect the landscapes we depend upon.
